Last weekend visitors to Cote d’Azur were able to witness a number of the superyachts in front of the famous Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes on the Cote d’Azur, in South of France. One of them was Abramovich’s Eclipse, the others were David Geffen’s Rising Sun, Suleiman Kerimov’s Superyacht of the year 2006, THE ICE and finally a lovely 73.6m Super Yacht Pegaso.
The second largest yacht in the world, the ECLIPSE was the most impressive one. With two helicopter landing pads, two swimming pools, a number of hot tubs, a large disco hall and 70 crew members, Abramovich’s charter boat was the largest. We were most impressed with the presence of one of the most environmentally friendly yachts of her time, superyacht ICE, owned by Mr Kerimov. She is reported to have the latest in noise- and vibration-reduction technology as well as exhaust emission control systems, which helped her win the coveted 2006 World Super Yacht Awards. She was the only one displaying a helicopter.
The second largest giga yacht present in Cap d’Antibes last weekend was Mr Geffen’s RISING SUN. This super yacht with 82 guest rooms, a basketball court, onyx countertops and a perfectly outfitted winecellar was designed by Jon Bannenberg and built by Germany’s Luerrsen as is the lovely Ice, formerly known as Air.
One of the loveliest boats on display there was Spanish built superyacht Pegaso. This custom built superyacht, with an impressive crew number of 27, offers 6 spacious staterooms with special features including a 9m submarine, an ice-class steel hull as well as a commercially compliant helipad.
Although most of these superyachts are not offered for yachtcharter, at least not at all times, we should be in the position to discuss with you charter on similar boats at any time.
