Following numerous successful charters around Fiji, New Zealand and other parts of the South Pacific, SY MATAU is keen to be heading towards Papua New Guinea next year.  Breath-taking natural wonders combined with thriving wildlife, historic sites and spectacular beaches make for an absolutely amazing yacht charter destination.  Friendly locals with their gentle smiles or children’s hilarious laughs are bound to make your stay incredible too.

Add to this a multitude of complex cultures, up to around 800 indigenous languages used regularly and a range of handicrafts, dance, music and art and you can see yourself landing in a completely new surroundings where tribal cultures rule and mountainous jungles and totally undeveloped lowlands await you to explore.  A usually itinerary would take you around locations such as NEW Ireland where scuba diving is absolutely amazing due to crystal clear waters and rich underwater life.  A WWI shipwreck and a mini-submarine are lying near New Hanover too where secluded anchorages with spectacular backdrops invite one for all day waterskiing, jet skiing or snorkelling.  Kokopo with its volcanic hikes and bustling market, marine reserve in Kimbe Bay where helicopter ride can show you heavenly views of the landscape and volcanic craters nearby or Vitu archipelago could be other stops too.

Bismarck Archipelago is another area worth exploring while any luxury yacht charter itinerary in this region should also encompass Solomon island and most of all Sepik.  Exploring some of these locations could also be done with local traditional vessels where you can be taken upriver for insight into century old historic cultures and way of living.  A white-water rafting excursion on the Watut river and exploration of Chambri jungle  with their remote villages left in tact are a must experiences too.  Enjoy the songs of Birds of Paradise, sights of kangaroos running in the open tracks and numerous and rich flora and fauna which flourish in this amazing and mostly untouched atmosphere.

SY MATAU is available for private yacht charters from 50,000 US$’s per week in low season and from 55,000 US$’s in high season.  For specific rates during this 2018 winter and spring, please do get in touch.  Negotiated deals, longer term yacht charters or special requests can be discussed too.
