Press Release –
As the latest super yacht from the Benetti family, she will be one of the stars at the MYS Show. This four deck, 190’ steel and aluminium mega yacht was designed by Green & Mingarelli for a European Owner and is created primarily for commercial charter use but also for the Owner’s own private cruises.
The layout includes one VIP and four guest cabins, in addition to the owner’s master suite, giving her a total capacity of 12 + 1 passengers. The Lower deck is given over to the guests with a usual beach area located aft and featuring an ample bar zone which is distinctly separate from the garage, that opens laterally for launching and recovering the tender and the two jet skis. In the garage, there is also generous room in the garage for wetsuits and diving gear. Moving forward, beyond the engine rooms, the fifth guest cabin, the VIP suite is located amidships, taking full advantage of as near as eleven meters of
Illusion’s width. The best feature of the suite is the guest bathroom which is placed parallel to the vessels side, providing anyone using this space with a fabulous view. The other guest cabins, each en-suite are on the same deck, but completely separate. There are in total three twins (one with a third Pullman bunk) and one double cabin. The crew quarters feature four single crew cabins and a double for the chief engineer, each with its own bathroom have a separate access to all decks from the crew quarters, guaranteeing maximum privacy for the guests and increasing the crews efficiency in service.
The Main Deck cockpit is the first area to be found when coming aboard. A large c-shaped sofa with twin coffee table and comfortable lounge chairs are placed in their own complete corner bar. The main salon here is dominated by the dinner table for ten next to the entryway, the Owners refreshing choice, with the area being entirely dedicated to entertainment. Thanks to this location the area is very spacious and bright – the walls are fully in glass and fill the room with a splendid natural light throughout the day, especially as the gunwales in front of the windows have been lowered in order to provide the guests with view of the sea from inside and literally inundate the salon with light. The remainder of the main salon is furnished with three large sofas and a low table, all supplied by the Owner. From forward, the bar overlooks it all, including the retractable LCD TV in this area. The owners interior designer, in collaboration with the Benetti design office, personally chose the style of furnishings and décor, with a dominant theme in a lively, yet subtle pink, while the choice and combination of the materials used is quite special and this includes tavertine, wood, and several kinds of marble which alternate with other even more unusual materials: ray-skin, coco or slivers of mother of pearl.
Further inside, within the guest areas, all the walls are covered with black walnut panels, done with a special design in order to augment the contrast and movement, with the walnut panels being alternated with parchment covered panels. Even though the parchment is very difficult to work with, the yards artisans managed to completely satisfy the owners’ requirements as evident in the choice of materials which creates a very suggestive contrast. As an example, the Lalique crystal insets add another touch of elegance, while fully reflecting the natural lighting.
Walking from the salon to the main foyer which has a majestic stairway connecting the three decks and the crew area, you would pass past the modern galley. Its custom granite finishing’s, along with a designer refrigerator, two large ovens, burners, deep fryer, and two wok burners, put it on a level with the best five star kitchens. A dumbwaiter connects the main deck pantry with the upper deck pantry.
After the foyer, you would stumble across the magnificent Owners suite. The apartment is spread across the full beam of ILLUSION I, with large lateral windows and a beautiful sofa to one side. The owners’ bathroom, just like the VIP bathroom, is designed entirely with an onyx décor, with both sinks in carved marble. Extremely spacious, with two entryways to his and her dressing rooms, the bathroom also features an enormous central shower, a bathtub and twin toilets.
Another characteristic of this area is its complete silence. Reducing noise and vibration reduction throughout the yacht was a specific request made by the Owner, and the Benetti technicians, together with a Danish company specialized in noise reduction, managed to create a peaceful atmosphere in the best way possible.
Informal evenings are are likely to be organised on the open Upper deck , where there is a dinner table and mobile bar for up to 14 guests; while inside there is another small salon with sofas, entertainment area, and a corner bar. Fun and relaxation are the central themes that determine the upper deck layout, where you also find a small movie theatre (which if needs be, can be converted into an extra cabin), a wine cellar and a cold-box for cigars.
Moving further forward, you would find the entryway into the crews quarters, with a cabin for the chief stewardess, the captain’s cabin, and the radio room with direct access to the bridge. Here we have yet a further example of high technology, with five large touch screens that integrate all the command, management and monitoring functions of the ships systems.
From the stern, we now come to the 5th deck. The Sun deck is likely to be the most popular area on board, and various facilities here are certainly going to assist in this. First of all, the space is great and the fabulous mosaic Jacuzzi which is surrounded by sunbathing recliners, a mobile bar, barbecue grill and dinette is likely to be the centre of attention of all guests. The whole area can be sheltered from the wind thanks to a veranda with double sliding-doors. All the external furnishings are in dark painted teak while the marble is rustic travertine. Whether inside or outside, all lighting aboard is equipped with a highly customized LED illumination system, with the possibility to individually control each fixture and create infinitely refined lighting scenarios.
And in following the Benetti tradition, the under lower deck is devoted exclusively to the yachts systems. This deck features the engine room, a large cold room with refrigerators, icebox, an area reserved exclusively for all the infotainment systems aboard, and an ample laundry room. There is also a service elevator connecting this deck to the main deck
ILLUSION I is made as an ocean cruiser rather than a super fast yacht. As a result she will have a 5,000NM range at the 12 knots normal cruising speed, all thanks to the twin CAT 3512C super yacht engines, each developing 1,380 kw @ 1,800rpm which can propel the yacht to its maximum speed of up to 15kn. On top, the yacht will have twin generators from CAT C9 Gensets range with 200 kw each, plus a third CAT C4.4 generator for 82 kw.
ILLUSION I will have its world premiere at Monaco Yacht Show and is expected to be available for charter through owners broker during the winter seasons 2014 / 2015, most likely in the Caribbean and the Bahamas, with a weekly rate starting from US$’s 350,000 plus APA expenses.
